Jan Tore Savic Knutsen
Drawing on extensive international experience in crisis management and media relations, Jan Tore Savic Knutsen is responsible for Zynk’s services in crisis preparedness. He also works in media consulting, presentation techniques, and corporate communications. Jan Tore Savic Knutsen joined Zynk in August 2014.
Knutsen was recruited to Zynk from Gambit H+K where he worked for more than seven years and was part of the corporate communications department, responsible for media training, crisis management and communications, and presentation techniques. Knutsen has broad experience from industries such as oil and gas, telecoms, transportation, and manufacturing. For several years he was engaged as a consultant for large international corporations such as Statoil, Lundin, and RWE Dea, in addition to Statnett, Flytoget, and Telenor, amongst others. Previous roles include chief information officer for both Kripos and Politidirektoratet, and spokesperson for the international observer force TIPH in Hebron in the West Bank. Knutsen was a scholar at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), has worked as a translator of Arabic fiction and English prose, and has a background as a freelance journalist.
Knutsen has a candidate of arts (cand.mag.) degree from the University of Oslo and also studied at the University of Damascus and the Hebrew University in the history of religion, Arabic, sociology and journalism. In addition, he has completed multiple courses in organisation and leadership and, in 2012, completed the WPP Maestro programme in Poland – which is a course covering consulting and the ‘trusted consultant’ method.
